Based on the story of real-life outlaw couple Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker, the film follows their adventures together, from the moment they met. Bonnie is a waitress, bored and unsatisfied with her life. When Clyde tries to steal her mother's car, she decides to become his partner in crime. The two team up with C.W. Moss, Clyde's brother Buck and his wife Blanche, and the gang soon start robbing banks, as their crimes become more and more violent. The law enforcement led by ranger Frank Hamer is after them, and the couple can't escape a tragic ending to their story.
